The Sacraments

Sacraments

At St. Martin’s Catholic Church, Lugbe, we believe in the power and grace of the Seven Sacraments instituted by Christ. Each sacrament is a sacred encounter with God, strengthening our faith and deepening our relationship with Him.

1. Baptism

Baptism is the gateway to Christian life. Through the pouring of water and the invocation of the Holy Trinity, individuals are cleansed from original sin and initiated into the Church.

  • To schedule a baptism, visit the Parish Office or contact the Catechist.

2. Holy Eucharist (First Communion)

The Holy Eucharist is the real presence of Jesus Christ in the form of bread and wine. Receiving the Eucharist nourishes our spiritual life and unites us with Christ.

  • First Communion classes are available for children and adults. Registration is open at the Catechism Office.

3. Confirmation

Confirmation strengthens baptized Catholics with the Holy Spirit, making them full members of the Church. It is a renewal of our baptismal vows.

  • Candidates must attend catechism classes and a retreat before receiving this sacrament.

4. Penance (Confession/Reconciliation)

Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we receive God’s mercy and forgiveness for our sins. Confession is available in the church before Mass and by appointment.

  • Confession Days: Every Saturday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

5. Anointing of the Sick

This sacrament provides healing, strength, and grace to those who are seriously ill, elderly, or near death. It is a source of spiritual and sometimes physical healing.

  • For emergency anointing, please contact the Parish Office.

6. Holy Matrimony (Marriage)

Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, blessed by God. Catholic couples preparing for marriage must undergo Pre-Marital Counseling and complete all required documentation.

  • Marriage counseling and registration are available at the Parish Office.

7. Holy Orders

Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, men are ordained as deacons, priests, or bishops to serve the Church. Those discerning a vocation to the priesthood should speak with the Parish Priest.

  • Vocation inquiries are welcome at the Parish Office.
